The function was a resounding success, with the Guest of Honour, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism, Ms.  Leah Adda  Gwiyo, The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Anania Mwaboza along with the Board Members, The Principal of Kenya Utalii College Mr. Kenneth Ombongi, Trustees Martin Ole Kamwaro, Saad Faraj and Wycliffe Anyasi also present was Chief Executive Officer of CTDLT, Mr. Allan Chenan.

The festivities began with short speeches, starting with the Guest of Honor, the Permanent Secretary, who focused on the tourism industry and the achievements made, but also stressing that there is more to be done in order to make Kenya a top tourism destination internationally.  She also congratulated the organization’s sterling performance in the year and encouraged that CTDLT continues to make even greater steps, even as the organization is set to transform in the coming years.

The Chairman, Mr. Anania Mwaboza, in his speech, recognized the developments that CTDLT has made, namely the Board’s approval of the establishment of a new office block, and the Board’s mandate to establish of Ronald Ngala Utalii College, which will be based in Kilifi. The Chairman also praised the organization for the hard work the staff members put in during the year.

The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Allan Chenane’s speech focused on the support the Permanent Secretary and the Ministry has given CTDLT, and the Board’s constant cooperation with him to make CTDLT develop its mandate to a higher level. He also reflected on the chaos of 2007/2008 that brought the tourism industry to its knees, and the organization’s perseverance to increase its levy collection from Kshs .33 million to the last financial year’s over Kshs. 1billion. He thanked everyone for their efforts and encouraged the staff to remain focused on increasing the revenue even further and taking CTDLT to the next level.

The event continued with awards presented to the staff members for the work they had accomplished during the year, as well as the cutting of the official luncheon cake.

The function was a resonant success for everyone involved and in attendance, and it is with certainty that all look forward to the CTDLT End of Year staff luncheon, 2011!
